Vaser liposuction is a liposuction method in which ultrasound energy helps break up fat tissue, which is then removed with cannulas. It is not a weight-loss or obesity treatment; it aims to refine localized body contour in people close to a stable weight.
What Is VASER Liposuction?
Technology does not replace the surgeon's anatomical plan. The result is affected by fat distribution, skin elasticity, the volume removed, cannula technique and post-operative compression.
Goals such as high-definition muscle sculpting are not suitable for everyone. Overly superficial work can increase the risk of thermal injury and irregularity.
Who May Be a Candidate?
- Adults with a stable weight and localized fat deposits that remain despite diet and exercise
- People with sufficient skin elasticity whose general health is suitable for surgery
- People who expect a change in contour, not weight loss
- People who can follow the compression garment, mobility, follow-up and blood clot prevention plan
How Does the Process Work?
- Fluid is infiltrated into the treatment area and the ultrasound probe is used in a controlled manner in the fat tissue.
- The prepared fat tissue is removed with suitable cannulas; symmetry and tissue thickness are preserved.
- The entry sites are closed or left open for drainage; a compression garment and follow-up plan are provided.
Expected change in body contour
The number of fat cells in the treatment area decreases; the remaining cells can grow with weight gain. The result is better maintained with a stable weight and healthy lifestyle habits; cellulite and loose skin may not be completely corrected.
Alternatives and complementary options
Weight management, traditional liposuction, non-surgical localized fat reduction or, for excess skin, lift surgeries are evaluated.
The basis of personalized planning
| Planning 1 | Fat distribution, skin elasticity, muscle–fascia structure and possible hernias are examined. |
|---|---|
| Planning 2 | BMI, weight changes, smoking, history of blood clots, previous surgeries and medications are evaluated. |
| Planning 3 | The treatment area, the volume that can be safely removed, fluid management and the surgical facility are planned. |
| Planning 4 | The difference between Vaser and traditional liposuction, thermal risk and possible excess skin are explained. |
Frequently asked questions
Does Vaser liposuction help with weight loss?
No. It is a localized contouring procedure and does not replace obesity treatment.
Does the fat come back?
The removed cells are reduced; however, if weight increases, the remaining fat cells can grow and body contour can change.
Does it tighten the skin?
A tissue response may be seen in some people; it does not correct significant excess skin as well as a lift surgery.
Is Vaser safer than traditional liposuction?
Both methods are surgery. Safety depends more on the right candidate, technique, volume, facility and follow-up plan than on the device.
Possible risks and complications
- Bleeding, infection, seroma and fluid–electrolyte problems
- Contour irregularity, asymmetry, skin laxity and changes in sensation
- Thermal injury or burns due to ultrasound energy
- Deep vein thrombosis, fat embolism and anesthesia complications
- Rarely, internal organ injury and revision
Recovery and follow-up
Swelling, bruising, fluid leakage, numbness and early contour waviness may occur. Compression garments and lymphatic care should be applied only as recommended. Shortness of breath, chest pain, swelling in one leg, high fever or severe increasing pain require urgent assessment.
