Your surgeon will start by marking out where the threads will go on your face. Then the area is injected with local anesthesia. Once you’re numb, your doctor inserts a long needle, with the thread attached to it, into your skin and passes it under the skin’s surface. The thread is then pulled tight to create tension and lift the tissue. This process is repeated until all the threads—anywhere from just a few to more than 20—are placed.
You may go home with bunched up or dimpled skin, but that should resolve within a week. Beyond that, thread lift recovery is relatively easy.
Almost immediately, your skin will look firmer and more lifted, a lot of what you’ll be seeing then is due to temporary swelling. You’ll begin to see real results in about a month, and those results will maximize within three months. Threads will gradually dissolve by six months, but because of their collagen-boosting effects, you may continue to see some results for up to a year.
